First Grade Classroom Resources

I will be posting different resources that can be used in a first grade classroom.  This page will be dedicated to integrating technology and multimedia into the curriculum.

Lesson Plans:
Working with Struggling Readers in a small group setting to focus on their specific needs.

Using SmartTutor to introduce or review strategies and rules to use when reading including: Phonics Rules, Phonemic Awareness, Vocabulary, Sight Words, and Reading Comprehension.

Building Fluency:
Rereading Text from home using Starfall to read and listen to audiobook to easily follow along with the text of the story! Students can practice matching their inflection to that of the reader.

Assessments:
Plickers is a great assessment tool to use as a quick assessment of your students' comprehension during a lesson.  Use Plickers Cards individualized for each student. You can download the app from the App Store / Play Store on your device to scan the cards quickly.

Use Padlet for formative assessments for a quick check-in with your students!

Kahoot is a great option for quick formative assessments of your students' understanding of a concept that allows students to compete with their peers in a friendly environment! Alternatively, you can give them the option of creating a nickname so that students can remain anonymous to their peers if it becomes too competitive. Here is a quiz I created to accompany a Features of Fiction lesson.

Data Tracking:
Record Your Students Running Records Audio to revisit at any time! You can use Vocaroo and download the file.

Use Google Sheets to track your students progress on assessments, practice with sight words, track attendance, etc. See example here.

Using the CamScanner App to help you document your students' work.  You may also want to use this feature to share resources used in the classroom with parents or for your students to review from home. You can also download your pdfs directly onto your computer! See an example of an interactive read aloud scanned with the app here.
